Hypothetically Speaking: Where has my Mojo Gone?
I haven't been a very good blogger lately. Let's just say: I haven't got my creative blogging mojo on. I think perhaps my creative blogging mojo is clashing with my lazy the-kids-are-finally-in-bed-and-now-I-just-want-to-watch-bad-TV-or wait!-read-a-trashy-magazine-or wait!-maybe-I'll-stretch-a-brain-cell-while-still-being-lazy-and-do-the-crossword-puzzle-from-the-newspaper outfit that I've been wearin' for a few days in a row now. And, you know, of course, that I'm hypothetically speaking here because I'm way too classy for bad TV* and trashy magazines and wearing the same (hypothetical) outfit for days in a row. I totally did the crossword puzzle though. Really, I did. So, as I was saying...
Meanwhile, stuff keeps happening around here and now all these wannabe blog posts are swirling around in my mind without the inertia to make it to postable fruition and giving me a royal headache in the meantime. Or maybe I just need to take two advil and drink a cup of coffee, but...
One of the things I've been wanting to post about is from last Thursday. I sprung for concert tickets for my sisters Lori, Francie and Natalie (for their May, July and September birthday presents) and we all (Kristen tagged along too) took the day off work and convened on Natalie's house on the other side of the state for the day. You know that hijinks ensued...
Natalie and Francie have already beat me to the punch and posted about the day, so no need to reinvent the wheel here. Especially, when Natalie's post left me laughing so hard that when I tried to read it back aloud to Derrick (who was sitting across from me on our dual couches with our dual laptops) I couldn't finish for all the snorting and crying going on. (I don't really snort when I laugh...it just sounded good for the story. I really was crying though.) Since I might never get around to posting about it myself, if you were ever curious what might lead a person to say...
"Wow, my sisters are very much alike...deaf to what others are saying around them, and very much concerned for parkers getting take out."
...you can read about it HERE on Natalie's blog. When I finally was able to read that line to Derrick in it's entirety, he replied, "Yes, I can completely see that about you guys." What can I say. I do occasionally get take-out and I'm not ashamed to admit it. But the deaf thing, I have no idea what that's all about. Huh? Were you talking to me...
Also, buried within Natalie's post, you will discover the reason that I have decided to let her do all the pottery painting for my Simple Wishes stuff. It's just better that way. I mean, next week, when my creative mojo comes back (hopefully it's not gone forever) I might change my mind. But, for now, I'll pour and sand and do all the menial prep work and she can paint. (And then we can share the glory. Nice, eh?)
What Natalie left out (or rather sort of glazed over) in her post was how she took us out tubing on the lake with no gas in the boat. And, an hour before we're supposed to leave for our concert (at Joe Louis Arena, which turns out none of us knew how to get to, but we each figured one of us did, and that's a whole 'nother story) we're out on the boat in our swimsuits, and Natalie and Kristen are on the tube and me, Lori, Francie and Natalie's big dog, Walter, are on the boat, and Natalie signals to me not to go towards the part of the lake I'm headed towards, and of course, I wonder -- why? what's over there? -- so I cut the engine to ask. And she yells from the tube, "because we don't have any gas, and if we run out and we're too far away, we'll never make it back to the dock in time for the concert!"
Oh goodness. Please let the boat start again. Whew. It did, and we turned around and headed back for home immediately on consensus of Lori, Francie and I (see -- great minds think alike, and not just about selective hearing and getting take-out) much to Kristen and Natalie's chagrin. Apparently, though, Natalie and Adam often take their boat out on empty. Of course, these are the same people we're talking about who bought themselves a new dining room table, but no chairs, because the chairs were too expensive. Living on the edge, young, newlywed style!
So, here we are all at the concert just before it started. I stole this picture off Francie's blog, because she always somehow has the best pictures.
(Francie, Natalie, Lori, Kristen and me.)
And, you've got to check out Kristen's outfit that she wore to the concert:
That's her in the green cowboy boots and the ratty ponytail. (Really...it was a serious lake-water rat's nest that Natalie convinced her to let her put "up".) Outfit made all the cuter by the fact that she was forced to wear it for the next 3 days in a row (including to work with Natalie the next day), when she decided at the last minute to stay at her Auntie Natalie's house and the only other clothes she had with her was her swim suit and the concert T-shirt I bought her. She came home with the same rat's nest ponytail too. That was fun to fix. Here she is at Natalie's work. Since Natalie is able to take her dog to work everyday, I guess it wasn't a far stretch to let her niece tag along too.
Oh, and I haven't yet mentioned what concert we went to see. We saw this guy:
and his 9 opening acts. Yup, we saw American Idols Live. And we liked it. And, I'm only slightly embarrassed to admit that, especially in the same paragraph where I've (hypothetically) admitted to watching bad TV and reading trashy magazines. But I did do that crossword puzzle. Don't forget about that. And there's a really, really good chance that tomorrow (when not working and taking care of a husband and four kids and a bunch of animals) that I will do something really noble with my free time. Maybe I'll sew. Maybe I'll blog. You just never know.
*But just in case I weren't hypothetically speaking, entirely, you know...You have to check out Rock the Reception (Tuesdays at 8:30pm on TLC) with Tabitha and Napoleon. Too funny and totally worth a lazy 1/2 hour if you've got one to spare.
P.S. And oh look, just like that, I've posted about last Thursday and I didn't even mean to. I think I just changed my outfit. And now I jumped from hypotheticals to metaphors. I think I'll stop now and go to bed while I'm still making sense.

What a nice thing to treat your sisters to a concert. That would be a fun one too! Love the green cowboy boots on Kristen, they really make the outfit :)
just stopping in before I crash for the day...
Never feel guilty about being too busy to blog! That's a fun life you're leading over there ;)
I've been wondering what you've been up to... hope you write more so I know what you did this last weekend!
Sounds like fun! But you should have invited me... I know where the Joe is. :-)
You are too funny! I loved Kristen's outfit, even with her ratty ponytail! Sounds like the concert was fun...I'm headed over to Natalie's blog to get the rest of the story!
After seeing the wonderful items in your shop, I'm happy to forgive you any slackness in blogging :-P
My mom and sisters went to the same concert!! They said they loved it, but that David Cook came off a bit arrogant. I was surprised to hear that. What'd you think?
I am SO jealous - and my daughter will be even more jealous - you got to see David Cook, LIVE! Seriously, what a very cool outing with your sisters and daughter. Very, very cool.
Your mojo isn't missing! You just wrote a clever, coherent, funny post! I, on the other hand, can't find mine long enough to put two sentences together about our move. ;>)
The boots are adorable!
My blogging mojo has totally gone away. I will return soon, when I find the time.
Quite an adventure you guys had! So try to stay off the trash for awhile (ha ha). I love how your mugs turned out. I got 2.
You kept me in suspense... I was thinking "Eagles" or "Coldplay" or something similar... American Idol tour?
Just giving you grief. There were some great singers this year and it sounds like ya'll had a great time. So fun! Reading your blog always makes me feel about 80 years old... your eneregy level is craziness... I always leave feeling guilty. :)
By the way, since I am playing catch-up... those aprons are the stink'in cutest things I have ever seen!!!
